The collection contains a letter from Jessner to author Wolfgang Goetz and Gustav Stresemann's membership card for the Deutscher Bühnen Klub (signer by Max Rainer and Jessner). There are also numerous photograph-postcards of actors and actresses who served under Jessner's direction in Königsberg, along with notes on what pieces they performed. Erwin Lichtenstein
Born 1878 in Königsberg, Jessner rose to become one of the most prominent theater directors and representatives of German expressionism of the Weimar Republic. He worked at theaters in Hamburg, his native Königsberg, and eventually Berlin. In 1934 he emigrated first to Britain, then Palestine, and eventually to the United States where he worked in Hollywood. He died in Los Angeles in 1945
